BIJOU'S SMOKED FISH
Bonjour Grann,
Bijou, my best friend, is forever by my side through sickness and fitness. I know she'll be blessed during the Full Sturgeon Moon; she is the first one awake and out the door running to check the traps and our smoking racks, often before I have time to think about waking up!
She does her best trying to participate in our food gathering.
I don't want to get too far from Marvella and the fire pit; I want to make sure I have food to last through winter. I think adding the driftwood around the smoking frame helped speed up smoking and aided in the longevity of the fire.
I've begun storing the smoked salmon in empty stainless-steel food containers from the boathouse for winter use. I'll continue fishing and crabbing, smoking, and storing, until it gets too cold to move outside.
