TONTON AND THOMAS

Bonjour Grann,

My hands, arms, legs, and knees are bruised, scratched, cut, and bleeding; but I made it to a comfortable place outside the cave, after crawling for some time, struggling over dirt, brush, and rocks.

I've discovered another view of the ocean. But I don't see access to the shore, and it looks from where I sit that I am sitting two stories above the sand and rocks below. I will have to find a way back home to Marvella before the sunset and it's too dark to see.

But for now, I will rest. And I'll stay on higher ground, and out of the cave until the tidewater in the tunnel recedes.

My black, fluorescent gel pen is running dry. I've used the pen almost exclusively since the beginning of summer vacation; with my blue gel being used just a few times, and the other colors still in new condition.

Uncle Tonton and Thomas gave me the dark-paper journal and fluorescent pens for working in their yard; that and a Commemorative Silver Dollar that Uncle picked up while stationed in Germany.

I don't know what I'd do without my pens and paper, luckily there's enough paper and pencils at Marvella to last a while. Although, they're not as nice as my journal and pens.

But the pencils and paper at Marvella might as well be as far away as Hidden Harbor Estates; alongside the crutches in our mudroom.

Grann, please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.
